    Here is a
    used pair of older Starrett 38-8 lock-joint outside calipers in the 8" size.
    This style caliper has the fine adjustment knob.  They are no longer made by Starrett in this type and size.  Starrett has moved to the transfer type caliper (model 36) and they are only available in the 6, 12 and 24" sizes now.
    This caliper works good but has some stain spots on both sides where rust was removed with a Scotchbrite pad.  Cosmetic only, you may be able to buff some of the spots out.  There are no owner engravings on it.  For reference the new Starrett model 36-6", smaller caliper runs 4.
